Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of Mexico (GOM) OCS Region (GOMR), Office of the Regional Director/Deputy Regional Director for DIEE, District Field Operations, Lake Jackson District, duty stationed in Angleton, TX.
At the full performance level (GS-8) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs initial analysis and subsequently assists staff engineers in the overall evaluation and processing of incoming requests, and documents.
- Conducts preliminary technical evaluation for completeness of all administrative requirements, and compliance with all regulations.
- Manages all databases (Technical Information Management System [TIMS], TIMSWEB, National Consolidated Information System [NCIS], Access) for all applications, requests, reports, and notifications.
- Runs e-Well database queries for newly submitted EORs (End of Operations Report) and Well Activity Reports (WAR) and assigns to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains the rig data located in TIMS National Consolidated Information System (NCIS).
BSEE has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
This position is included in a bargaining unit. The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Local 3457, is the exclusive representative of all employees in this bargaining unit
Salary Information
Angleton, TX: $ 62,611 - $ 81,392 (per annum).
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
This vacancy is also announced as BSEE-EENN-24-FS-252(MP) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures.

Skills
To qualify for the
GS-08, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the
GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1. Conducting technical reviews and analysis of various operation submittal and/or completion reports
; AND-OR-
- Compiling technical data for further analysis by engineers; AND
- Executing database queries to provide a variety of reports and statistics. Must Meet All

- Education: You may substitute education (education that is directly related to the work of the position) for experience at the GS-08 level if you have achieved:
- One and a half years (40.5 quarter hours or 27 semester hours) of progressively higher-level graduate education DIRECTLY related to the work of the position.
- Combination of Education and Experience: Appropriate combinations of education and experience that total 100% of the requirement for this grade level. (Coursework must be directly related to the work of the position)

A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work with the U.S. Department of the Interior.
