Conditions of Employment
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successfully completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Specialized Experience -
GS-8: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal Service or equivalent responsibility in the private sector/pay systems that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies to successfully perform as a Financial Management Assistant. Example of such experience include: 1) Experience reviewing, evaluating, and verifying a wide range of accounting transactions to determine the adequacy of the system. 2) Experience determining actions to be taken in resolving conventional pay adjustments. 3) Experience coordinating the preparation of budgetary/financial documents.
NOTE: This experience must be demonstrated on your resume/supporting documents.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Merit promotion applicants holding or having held a GS position in the past 52 weeks must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements. One year at the GS-7 is required to be eligible for the GS-8. Time-in-Grade requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
Applicants MUST submit an SF-50 that illustrates time-in-grade and reflects title, series, and grade. No Award SF-50 will be accepted.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for experience for this position.

- Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Employees: Permanent County employees without prior Federal tenure who are selected for a Civil Service position under Public Law 105-277 will be given a career-conditional appointment and must serve a 1-year probationary period.
