About The Role
TransAlta Centralia Mining is hiring! We are looking to hire eight (8) Dredge and Pump Technicians to support our dredging and fine coal recovery ponds project. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Mine, you are accountable for safely operating and maintaining pond dredging equipment and processes.
This is a union role under the IUOE Local 612. The base hourly rate for this position is up to $35.22/hr and the work schedule is 4 x 12 hr shifts, four days (or nights) on and four days (or nights) off.
What You Will Do
- Record data into shift reports to monitor production and positioning
- Perform general maintenance tasks on pumping and dredging equipment
- Operate slurry pumps and dredge
- Operate hand tools, drills, power saws and other equipment as required.
- Read and document process production numbers from in-line meters.
- Operate mine equipment for set up and moving of pumps /dredges including, dozer, loader, excavator, manlift, skid steers, light duty pickups
- Perform rigging and winching
- Identify preventative maintenance needs
- Accountable to ensure all work is performed safely and within TransAlta's/ MSHA policies, procedures, standards
- Accountable for providing input on the operational and maintenance plan
What We Need From You
We are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:
- Mechanical/electrical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot defective systems
- Ability to operate manlift, forklift, skid steer, power tools
- Heavy Equipment Operator experience with Loader, Excavator, Dozer
- Rigging and winching
- Computer and GPS skills
- Ability to work on and around water safely
