Position
Join our team at Renton Technical College! Our Food Services Team is looking for a Storeroom Clerk to join and support the success of the department as well as our culinary students. This is a part-time, classified and overtime eligible position that is part of the Food Service Team and reports directly to the Dean of Culinary Arts. The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for ordering and receiving food, in addition to the control and monitoring of the food inventory. The Storeroom Clerk position is represented by American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Union. The pay range for this role is $23.78 - $30.25 hourly and salary placement is based on applicable work experience. Other benefits are listed on our benefits page and in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The priority consideration date for applicants is August 22, 2024. Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include
- Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Complete the weekly inventory in the designated areas.
- Monitors, stocks and reports any discrepancies in the delivery of food and non-food orders.
- Creates forms to make inventory tracking easier.
- Create and update interdepartmental transfers and reconciles records.
- Monitors product waste sheets.
- Orders and purchases some recurring food and non-food items, under limited authorization.
- Performs designated security functions.
- Completes cleaning tasks to appropriate standards in designated area.
- Demonstrates job functions to students and reports on student activities to the instructor.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, providing friendly customer services to patrons.
- Complies with the health department rules and regulations at all times.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- May perform the duties of busser, dishwasher, food server, cook helper and/or cashier-greeter on occasion.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
- Ability to successfully perform the responsibilities and station assignments.
- A Highschool Diploma and one year of experience in Restaurant/Foodservice Management with Purchasing and Receiving or Foodservice Storeroom Operations
- Ability to understand written and oral instructions given in English and effectively communicate with co-workers and customers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically and exercise independent judgment required.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010, specifically experience creating & editing documents, spreadsheets and presentation.
- Previous success learning new computer software programs/platforms required.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Successful experience using tact, discretion and courtesy while interacting with all persons.
- Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
- Successful experience with diverse populations of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities, and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.
- Keyboarding skills are preferred.
Special Requirements, Licenses And Certifications
- Hold a food handler's permit or be able to obtain one.
- Hold a valid Washington state driver's license or be able to obtain one.
- Ability to lift 55lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is during the instructional year of September to June, 7:00am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday.
