Brief Job Description (essential Functions Of The Job)
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Highway Maintenance, exercises close supervision of the work of an assigned Highway District in the City of Boston.
Responsibilities
Includes all work required for or related to street cleaning, minor street and sidewalk repairs, and assigned street sanding, salting, snow plowing, and snow removal for the proper maintenance of street conditions in that district, and performs related work as required.
Required to work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications
- Applicants must have at least (a) three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the repair, construction, or maintenance of highways, streets, or roadways, of which (b) at least one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
- Working knowledge of procedures and practices of snow removal, street repair, care of tools and equipment, laws, rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to this position preferred.
- Knowledge of administrative and supervisory principles and practices is preferred.
- Ability in written and oral expression preferred.
- Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts driver's license.
- Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and be able to focus on detail as required by the job.
