As such, most of NEA’s national staff belong to one of three staff unions.Position SummaryThe Director of Information Technology Services leads the strategic planning, implementation, and support of on-premise and cloud infrastructure, data infrastructure, and analytics. This position oversees a team of 20+ professionals across infrastructure, data engineering, networking, security, data analytics, and organizing tools to ensure the data infrastructure is in alignment with the overall goals of the Association and that the department is prepared to provide technology solutions that are secure and sustainable. The Director reports to the Senior Director of the Center for Innovation and Technology and works collaboratively across Centers and the NEA state affiliates to ensure everyone has access to a secure and actionable technology infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Information Technology services is responsible for providing a vision and plans to modernize the NEAs' infrastructure, leverage the cloud and automations, and ensure that the technology is scalable for both current needs and the growing needs of the future.Vision and StrategyDevelop and execute a strategy for data infrastructure that is scalable and sustainable and delivers accurate and actionable insights and analytics, leveraging the current technology stack.Lead and coach a diverse team of data engineers, networking specialists, cybersecurity specialists, infrastructure experts, analysts, and data organizing practitioners.Understand the evolving and complex needs of political, membership, and digital organizing and provide technology solutions to meet their goals and analytics solutions that lead to data-driven outcomes.Modern AnalyticsLead a cultural transformation that modernizes current processes for delivering insights and KPIs to one that is more secure, easier to access, and leverages emerging technologies.Collaborate with stakeholders to define and measure updated KPIs and metrics that help decision-makers understand the organization's health and make data-driven decisions.Oversee the creation of a diverse suite of real-time dashboards, recurring reports, and ad-hoc insights.Effective OperationsOversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a hybrid infrastructure that best leverages the sunk costs of the on-premise environment and the benefits of the cloud.Oversee business continuity planning and disaster recovery.Oversee data security, regulatory compliance, and risk management for member information and organizational data.Strategically make budget adjustments across hardware, software, and cloud technologies to ensure an efficient and scalable infrastructure.Develop and execute plans to reduce technology debt and take advantage of emerging technologies.Movement CollaborationCollaborate with other labor groups on data and analytics projects that support the NEA's and the wider labor movement's goals.Lead on collaborating with key vendors in the movement to ensure the NEA has the organizing tools it needs while also supporting the organizing needs of other labor partners and driving a unified vision for a larger progressive data infrastructure.Identify and execute strategic data swaps and shares with partner groups.Strategic PartnershipsWorks with every center in the Association to identify tool gaps and rapidly deploy solutions that fill those gaps in a scalable and supportable way.Effectively engage with affiliate stakeholders and work collaboratively on solutions in both analytics and infrastructure.Work closely with the other teams in CIT to ensure that Analytics and Infrastructure projects align with the NEA's business and political goals.Staff DevelopmentPlan and execute training opportunities for staff to further build their skills in new technologies and leverage these new skills to modernize NEA’s technology infrastructure.Facilitate the recruitment of highly qualified technical specialists who have a background in progressive data or the Labor Movement.Oversee the evaluation and performance expectations for staff and provide ongoing development opportunities and coaching support to ensure the team is highly motivated.QualificationsMinimum 10 years of management experience in IT or in similar roles within labor unions, professional associations, or advocacy groups, with at least 5 years in an executive role.Significant experience leading data analytics initiatives and implementing BI solutions.Experience managing and mentoring technical, data, and analytics teams.Expertise with organizing tools and their integrations (i.e. VAN, Catalist, Civis, Hustle).Experience managing budgets for technology, both on-prem and in the cloud.Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical plans and designs to non-technical audiences.Familiar with data science concepts and applications.Experience building synthetic models.Experience managing in a union environment.In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the following is provided: The position involves skill in using a computer and/or laptop;
