Salary: $80,000 / Annual

Status: Full-Time, FLSA Exempt

Position Summary

The Director of Production is the project manager for all PBT and PBT School performances in multiple formats. This individual is primarily responsible for the coordination of all production activities for PBT and PBT School performances. The Director of Production is a leader within the organization who is able to troubleshoot, project-manage and propel ballet and dance through creativity in bringing the artform to the region and beyond. The Director of Production is responsible for the supervision of those within the production department, including part-time stagehands and department heads and the relationships with those unions where applicable. Additionally, the Director of Production manages the SAM 450 mobile stage and its deployment.

Key Internal Relationships: Holds accountability to both organization directors. Manages a full-time production staff plus all part-time stagehands and regular part-time department heads. This individual works very closely with the marketing , development and finance departments as well as all artistic staff and all administrative senior managers.

Key External Relationships: Serves as the primary contact for local, regional, national and international venues, representatives of IATSE Local 3, FlySpace, production contractors including set and lighting designers.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage the production team, including full-time production staff and part-time IATSE department heads, provide administrative management and support for the wardrobe staff cooperatively with PBT’s Director of Costuming
  • Prepare and monitor all season production budgets, including but not limited to: venue rental, stage labor, loaders, construction, transportation, fees and rentals
  • Prepare projections for costs of new productions
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll for IATSE department heads
  • Set master schedule for all PBT productions at venues
  • Manage lighting, sound, video, scenic and props inventory
  • With the Director of Finance, HR Coordinator and PBT counsel, negotiate collective bargaining agreements with IATSE and wardrobe unions
  • Process, supervise and coordinate all logistics associate with the load-in, run and load-out of all production elements associated with a performance
  • Hire and schedule all production personnel for performance activities
  • Provide management team with specific budgetary information in a timely manner
  • Participate in the organization-wide IDEA initiatives
  • Identify and implement IDEA initiatives for the production team


CORE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, And OTHER INFORMATION

  • At least five years of experience with a large performing arts organization
  • Direct experience with IATSE stage labor
  • Prior experience with budgeting for production
  • Experience with ballet production and touring activities preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Strong budgeting and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exemplary Computer-literacy, especially spreadsheet analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to maintain a flexible working schedule; long days (14-16 hours)
  • Ability to stage manage as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move a minimum of 50 pounds
