Raycap, Inc., an industry leader in manufacturing solutions for telecommunications, renewable energy, transportation, defense, and other applications, is currently looking for Machine Operators in our Kearny, NJ facility. This is a fast-paced position in a metal manufacturing environment.
Position Summary
The PEM Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining PEM inserter machines to install self-clinching fasteners into sheet metal components according to engineering specifications and production schedules. This role ensures accuracy, quality, and safety throughout the process and supports the overall fabrication workflow.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Set up and operate PEM inserter machines according to work instructions, blueprints, and job travelers
- Select and load correct fasteners, dies, and tools based on job specifications
- Ensure proper alignment and positioning of sheet metal parts for insertion
- Ensure work areas are clean and clear of debris and scrap material, placed in proper receptacles
- Assists with general production labor needs such as:
- Grinding or deburring parts
- Punching cut parts out of sheet metal
- Placing and organizing punch parts onto pallets
- Moving material using pallet jack and/or forklift to appropriate work areas
- Work with Quality, Environmental, H&S employees to ensure and maintain compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory standards of Quality
- Has the obligation to be aware of and comply with environmental, safety policies and regulations and endure duties of high-quality standards
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 1-2 years of PEM or similar insertion machine preferred
- Basic understanding of mechanical drawings and part blueprints
- Familiarity with fasteners, sheet metal, and fabrication processes
- Ability to work effectively with limited or no supervision
- Ability to communicate verbally
- Excellent time management skills
- Willingness to adapt and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs, Stand and Bend for extended periods
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled production environment
Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor; exposure to machinery, noise, and standard fabrication materials
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required: safety glasses, gloves, foot protection, etc.
2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 3:30 pm - 12:00 am *Includes an additional shift pay differential*
BREAK/LUNCH: 30-minute lunch, plus two 15-minute breaks, to be determined by the manager
