What this job involves: The Mechanical Technician/Millwright will demonstrate knowledge of mechanical building equipment and systems required to operate and maintain a large bio-pharmaceutical facility. Apply knowledge and experience in plumbing and pipe fitting of commercial/industrial building systems and associated equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, repairs of all types of pumps, motors, heat exchangers, coils, fans, strainers, traps, boilers, chillers, towers, vacuum systems, etc. Maintain knowledge of and compliance to all applicable codes and regulations as required. Will require the employees to work with chemical, radiological, or biological agents that may be hazardous to health if mishandled (including Agents which may potentially affect reproduction or the fetus). Employees will be required to follow all safety procedures and use personal protective clothing/Equipment where specified.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Performs all associated work required to complete job assignment. This work includes, but is not limited to Mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, cutting, welding, insulating, machining and mobile equipment repair.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and drawings.
- Plans and organizes work and interacts with clients and maintenance planning staff to determine best approach to completion of assignments.
- Works with minimal supervision.
- Lays out and installs all types of fluid handling piping, equipment and systems.
- Documents all work performed neatly and accurately.
- Properly and effectively uses new technologies in Predictive Maintenance equipment and monitoring, such as Infrared thermography, Vibration Analysis, lubrication analysis, ultrasonic, laser aliment, etc.
- Demonstrates proficiency in steam, hot water, vacuum, compressed air, gases, specialty water, cleaning/sterilization equipment, fire suppression and associated systems. Assists other technicians as required.
- Performs all other associated minor work related to the job task being performed including, but not limited to, rigging, lamp changing, filter changing and ceiling tiles. Maintains tools, carts, vehicles and material handling equipment, as required.
- Works with minimal supervision in a team-based environment while maintaining knowledge of, and compliance with, all applicable codes, regulations, SOP's, and work instructions as required.
Environmental Conditions:
- Environmental conditions will vary based on the job being performed. Work may take place in either the maintenance shop and/or in the plant depending upon the job requirements. Could include working outside in winter and summer.
Work Schedule:
Dayshift – Monday through Friday
Preferred experience and technical skills:
- Experience with industrial motor repair and rebuilding
- Proficiency in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
- Experience with precision alignment and balancing of rotating equipment
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring
- Background in pharmaceutical or other GMP manufacturing environments
Required experience and technical skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to adequately perform required job functions. This includes being able to lift, bend and move in such a way as to perform job tasks in a safe and approved manner.
- Must be able to operate required hand/power tools, test instrumentation and equipment required by this trade in a safe and approved manner.
- Obtains and keeps current all required licensing and certifications associated with the job.
- Possesses experience and training in reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance of all mechanical, millwright, welding, and plumbing pipefitting areas with journeyman status in at least one. Those with Journeyman status shall be considered to retain.
