Data Center Services (DCS) is a shared service organization within Enterprise Information Services (EIS.) DCS serves the citizens of Oregon by enabling and supporting the missions of more than 150 State of Oregon agencies, Boards and Commissions through the delivery of Information Technology (IT) services. The DCS team maintains and operates a state-of-the-art Data Center, providing a highly secure environment with redundant infrastructure for high availability and efficiency. The services we provide include network connectivity (WAN, LAN, and Wireless), server hosting (mainframe, iSeries, AIX, Linux, and Windows), email services, data center colocation and data backup services.

The Data Protection team is a unit within DCS that provides backup and recovery services along with resiliency planning. In coordination with the customer, the team also works with other DCS technical teams to deliver services that meet their needs. The team provides services to both on-premise systems as well as those managed in the cloud ensuring the systems and the data that resides on those systems are protected from business impactful events. As Backup Administrator, you will provide technical expertise for the backup infrastructure, with a focus on Customer Service. Additionally, assisting with the coordination of technical efforts DCS is engaged in and contributes to the future development of the Backup service line.

Minimum Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

  • Five (5) years of information systems experience in: current data storage and backup infrastructure technologies; OR
  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience in: current data storage and backup infrastructure technologies; OR
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in: current data storage and backup infrastructure technologies.

Desired Attributes

  • Skilled in enterprise backup solutions, virtualization solutions such as VMWare, along with Server OS platforms and the impacts to statewide customers.
  • Expertise in system security and data backup/recovery utilizing Commvault or similar systems
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, peers and other agencies and the public.
  • Strong technical analytical skills in a secure data-center environment.
  • The ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management processes.
