COLORADO DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Colorado Green Wave Organizers

Job Description

In 2024, Colorado has critical local elections for the state legislature and county commissions, and is at the center of the battle for control of the U.S. House of Representatives while also playing a critical role in reelecting Joe Biden & Kamala Harris.

One of the highest priority issues for elected officials to tackle is climate change. President Biden’s Infrastructure Reduction Act is the largest investment in fighting climate change in global history, and we know that even more must be done to fight climate change and protect our outdoor spaces. That’s why we’re thrilled to invite you to apply for a campus organizer position to help build the Colorado Green Wave.

Join us in electing pro-climate champions to every level of government, from county commissioners all the way up to the U.S. House of Representatives and the White House.

Our Colorado Green Wave Organizers will be the Colorado Democratic Party’s on-the-ground messengers for young voters who have so much on the line in this election. Organizers will use a variety of tactics to recruit volunteers and mobilize college and young communities across Colorado. Colorado Green Wave organizers will have the opportunity to build teams across the state to have the voter-to-voter conversations we need in order to win! This is an entry-level role – applicants of all skills and backgrounds who are passionate about electing Democrats up and down the ballot are the exact folks we need on our team.

This position is in-person, based on one or more college campuses in Colorado, and will report to the Colorado Green Wave Organizing Manager. This is a temporary position that will conclude no later than November 8, 2024.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Build, train, and coach a team of volunteers and volunteer leaders to execute a large-scale student mobilization effort, including Welcome Week events on college campuses to mobilize young voters, meeting with professors, and training volunteer teams across multiple campuses.
  • Spread our campaign message through direct voter contact by knocking on doors, making phone calls, sending and replying to large-scale text messages, registering voters, high traffic canvassing on campuses and in college towns to reach non-student young voters.
  • Create content to be utilized via Colorado Democratic Party social media.
  • Organizers will attend events, dorm storms, and build in-person and virtual events for the Colorado Democratic Party. Plan for and use a number of tactics to hit daily and weekly metric goals for voter contact and volunteer engagement.
  • Think creatively and differently about youth engagement on and off campus.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Organizing Manager

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience volunteering or organizing in a particular community of Colorado is encouraged but not required; folks from service work backgrounds are also strongly encouraged to apply!
  • Ready to adapt and be flexible during the campaign to meet team goals and objectives
  • Willing and able to work in person in the field office and in the community you are assigned
  • Must have access to a cell phone, laptop, and reliable transportation
  • Commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ticket in Colorado
