Salary: $30.77/ hour

THE ROLE

This is a grant-funded position. Renewal of the position is subject/dependent upon continued funding. If the grant is not renewed, the incumbent can apply for other roles within StoryCorps.

This position is designated as a union position. As such, it is subject to the terms and conditions outlined in our Collective Bargaining Agreement with CWA Local 1180.

With a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), StoryCorps is developing tools for libraries across the country to support their communities in taking

The Associate Manager, Library Partnerships will contribute to the development, promotion, and distribution of library programming toolkits that respond to the unique needs of libraries of varying sizes, budgets, and cultural environments. This person will design, convene and manage a year-long community of practice to provide a cohort of program-level library staff with the skills, confidence, and tools to engage in bridge-building activities at their libraries, cultivate collaboration among libraries, and serve as a peer learning community. With feedback from this cohort and other library advisors, the role will refine library toolkits and make materials available and accessible in StoryCorps’ online learning hub, and promote the materials via conferences, webinars, and the development of compelling narratives about the program.

The Associate Manager, Library Partnerships reports to the Director of Learning & Engagement and works collaboratively with StoryCorps colleagues across departments.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage recruitment and selection of diverse communities of librarians committed to hosting programs to support conversation and community-building across political divides
  • Design, plan and host year-long community of practice programing including bimonthly virtual sessions, incorporating training, program planning, evaluation, and opportunities for peer conversation and support
  • Manage development of written and audio-visual case studies highlighting library activities
  • Continuously seek input from libraries and incorporate feedback into library toolkits for national dissemination
  • Attend and present at national library conferences and lead virtual webinars to promote and share toolkits for libraries
  • Support the addition of new materials to StoryCorps DIY, StoryCorps’ free online learning hub
  • Support execution of contracts and payments with external partners and vendors.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, including (but not exclusive to) external trainers, graphic designers, media producers, and librarians
  • Prepare reports for StoryCorps funders and internal organization use


Required

ABOUT YOU

  • 1-2 years of experience facilitating groups and/or training activities
  • You are passionate about bridge-building work and the mission of StoryCorps /
  • the One Small Step initiative.
  • Comfort speaking and presenting to large groups in various settings and
  • communities
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organization skills, multi-tasking ability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to contribute to problem-solving activities within a growing, changing organization
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into easily digestible and engaging formats for learners with varying backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Cultural competence/humility and the ability to thrive in a diverse work environment
  • Comfort and familiarity with Zoom and other virtual platforms


Preferred

  • Familiarity with WordPress content management
  • Knowledge of LearnDash or similar Learning Management Systems
  • You have experience working with conservative communities


Physical Requirements

  • This position requires extensive work via computer
  • Travel expected to a minimum of three conferences during the project timeline (Anticipated January 2025, September 2025, January 2026)

In-office Work

Working at the StoryCorps office is optional except in certain circumstances, such as in-person training, if your position requires some in-office presence, or if your manager needs an in-person individual or team meeting, COVID guidelines permitting. For those who prefer to work in the office, that option remains.
