Summary

Please Note: This is a pool position. No guarantee of hours.

This position is a Campus Flex position covered under the UFCW 3000 contract section 4.05 allowing this position to support multiple departments or locations.

Pharmacy technicians are persons who are skilled or trained in the practical, technical and distributive aspects of pharmacy practice. Through the performance of these tasks and through collaboration and teamwork with pharmacists, technicians allow pharmacists to engage in activities that optimize care and bring value to our patients. These activities primarily focus on the quality and the safety of the care provided. Technicians are supervised by licensed pharmacists who verify the accuracy of their job performance.

Position Reports To: Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacy Supervisor

Essential Functions

  • Compile and complete a medication profile on ambulatory patients through: Collection of data from the patient’s primary care provider, pharmacy(s), living facility, medication(s) from the electronic health record (EHR) and patient/caregiver interview.
  • Supports medication and allergy list accuracy which avoids medication errors such as omissions, duplications and incomplete/inaccurate instructions or information.
  • Medication records should be complete and include drug, dose, frequency, and any special circumstances under which the drug is taken.
  • Evaluates for medication adherence through electronic health record review, fill history and patient interview.
  • Works under the supervision of a pharmacist in the performance of these duties.
  • Documents activities and findings for the Pharmacist’s review and approval.
  • Provides a high level of Customer Service at all times.
  • Provides effective feedback to supervisor to improve work-flow, work quality and patient safety.
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining the cleanliness of the department.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Communicates positively and effectively in a team approach with co-workers within and outside the department.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality standards.
  • Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Active Washington State Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, accurate keyboarding, email communication and password management.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Customer service skills.

Desired

  • To communicate verbally and in writing in both Spanish and English language with the ability to pass a bilingual fluency evaluation through a CH chosen vendor.
  • Knowledge & experience with drug names, dose forms, dosages.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
