The University of Illinois Chicago, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services is actively seeking candidates for entry-level Pharmacy Technician I positions to join our dynamic pharmacy team. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will perform technical job functions and responsibilities which optimize safe and efficient medication preparation and delivery to our valued patients.

Our Pharmacy Technician I positions are full time (40 hours) and are day shift position Monday through Friday with a range of hours between 7:30am and 5:30pm.

All Pharmacy Technicians are licensed Civil Service positions represented by the SEIU Technical, Local 73 union.

Job Responsibilities:

Work in a setting filling outpatient prescriptions, providing excellent customer service to all, entering prescription orders into a computerized system, filling prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, maintaining inventory, cash register/point of sale transactions, assist in maintaining an efficient workflow, navigating complex processes and systems, understanding and acting in accordance with the laws pertaining to confidentiality, basic pharmaceutical compounding non-sterile skills, ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff, both in person and on the telephone, and related tasks as required.

Successful candidates will possess a positive attitude, have excellent problem solving skills, understand the importance of reliability and punctuality within a team environment, multi-task well in a fast paced setting while paying attention to details, appreciate working in a diverse environment, and possess above average computer and technology literacy skills.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Illinois.
  • A) Successful completion of a six-month formal training program in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices.

OR

B) Work experience in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
