Job Summary
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists with the needs of the unit, patient and family. The PCA role supports, supplements and/or compliments patient care provided by licensed nursing staff in acute care units by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environment, performing clerical functions and assisting RNs in specific direct patient care tasks.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $30.51 - $38.15 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
- One year of hospital-related patient care experience.
- Medical terminology. Computer skills. Strong verbal communication skills. Must be able to work as part of a team or independently. Ability to problem solve and prioritize demands preferred. Bi-lingual in Spanish or Southeast Asian languages preferred.

- Stand/Walk: 6-8 hours
- Bend/Stoop: Up to 3 hours
- Reach: Up to 6 hours
- Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 6 hrs
- Lift/Push/Pull: 25lbs, over 25# with assistance or equipment
- This job requires the ability to hear alarms clients and/or instruction. The ability to see accurately from 20 inches to 20-ft. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function of this position.

Required Licenses & Certifications: Medical Assistant Certification, Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and/or post high school vocational/ specialized medical training certificate or completion of one year nursing school. Current American Health Association BLS-C.
