Environmental Service Technician: This 0.8FTE/Part-time position is scheduled to work 8-HR variable shifts and is AFSCME represented.

Compensation: Non-Exempt, $18.36/HR-$28.61/HR

Job Summary

Cleans patient care and non-patient care areas throughout the facility including patient rooms, laboratories, offices, restrooms, Emergency department., Surgery, Ambulatory, Anesthesia, PACU department, off-site clinic and office locations, dietary, and ancillary areas to maintain a sanitary, safe and attractive health care environment.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cleans and remakes beds. Distributes laundered articles and linens. Processes soiled linen.
  • Dust mops and damp mops resilient floors. Vacuums carpets. Performs interim floor care. Cleans and maintains floor care equipment.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment. Cleans metalwork. Washes walls, ceilings, and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empties wastebaskets. Transports regular and bio-hazardous waste to disposal area(s). Empties bio-hazardous containers. Collects confidential paper. Operates compactor.
  • Cleans elevators and stairwells.
  • Refills paper products, soap and hand sanitizer dispensers. Cleans/disinfects equipment. Cleans ovens, vent hoods and fans. Replaces cubicle curtains.
  • Properly mixes, uses and disposes of cleaning chemicals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses, Certifications And/or Registrations

  • Valid Washington State Drivers’ License and access to dependable transportation.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
  • Knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used to clean buildings and furniture.
  • Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
