Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalency. Possess experience in computer operations, and computer-related fields. Knowledge of library software preferred. Ability to interact positively with teachers and administrators. Possess current knowledge in instructional technology in school environment.

Terms Of Employment

Ten month school year; salary and work hours established by the Board of Education agreement with Grayslake PSRP Council, a Council of the Lake County Federation of PSRP, Local 504, IFT-AFT, AFL-CIO.

Job Goal

Responsible for helping to provide an efficient and meaningful information, research and media program for District students, staff and community access. Using District curriculum provides information for faculty, parents and staff on the use of media materials and equipment.

Professional Qualifications

Requires experience in use of computers and a variety of software.

Familiarity and experience with technology as it pertains to school applications and staff development is desirable.

Keyboarding skills - computer literacy.

Working knowledge of software copying rights of the school system.

Working knowledge of installation of computer hardware and software.

Working knowledge of equipment circulation procedures of the school.

Ability to troubleshoot problems with computer equipment.

Ability to maintain lists, logs and records.

Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.

Ability to communicate with users to determine the nature of computer problems.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.

Responsibilities

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintaining day to day library activities assisting students and staff with book checkout and shelving

Responsible for media inventories and circulation

Assists the school information specialist(s) in the operation and maintenance of the school media/technology program

Work with the development of the building level media budget.

Maintains inventory of building media materials and equipment

Trains staff members in the use of media resources as needed.

Is knowledgeable of the district goals and priorities as they relate to the departments and schools

Receives, organizes and inventories all media materials and equipment utilized in the administration of the district media system

Assists in the development of security measures for reducing loss of or damage to equipment

Assists in the implementation of the district AUP (Acceptable Use Policy)

Performs other duties as assigned by the administration
