Job Summary
The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is approximately 12 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Dispensary Responsibilities
- Support clinical activities on the 2nd Floor as needed.
- Apply dental knowledge to identify and dispense appropriate dental products and equipment.
- Dispense materials and equipment in an organized, controlled manner.
- Provide students with instructions on clinic materials and equipment usage.
- Service and prepare student clinic instrument kits for reuse (e.g., endodontic trays, restorative kits, periodontal kits).
- Prepare contaminated instrument setups for sterilization, adhering to a time-sensitive turnaround schedule.
- Monitor and restock supply carts; clean as necessary.
- Perform weekly maintenance on water and vacuum lines using appropriate solutions per safety guidelines.
- Adhere to EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) standards for all procedures.
Sterilization and Central Supply Support Responsibilities
- Prepare and process contaminated instruments through washing and sterilization equipment.
- Sort and maintain dental instruments according to sterilization protocols.
- Follow manufacturer guidelines for biological indicator testing, monitoring, and recording.
- Maintain accurate logs for sterilization cycles and instrument distribution.
- Ensure proper operation of instrument washing machines and autoclaves.

Department Description
UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
