Position Details:
This position supports NEA’s strategic objective to focus the energy and resources of its 3.2 million members toward the promotion of public education by providing professional skills to support the Center for Professional Excellence and Student Learning (CPESL) build a system of Association-convened, educator-led, professional learning and supports for educators across their career continue to ensure student success.
Position Summary: The essential functions of this position involve working on the Center for Professional Excellence and Student Learning's Business Operations (BizOps) team. This position supports the Center by providing advanced conference, meeting, and event coordination and administrative support for the development and implementation of a robust and sustainable system to identify and cultivate promising professional resources and programs developed by NEA affiliates and external partners; support the adoption and implementation of those resources and programs by NEA state and local affiliates; and track the impact of participation with those resources and programs on the professional practice and Association engagement of member participants. Specific duties include planning, coordinating, and organizing conferences, workshops, and meetings; assisting with analyzing, developing, and promoting programs and products for the Center’s conferences and events; collaborating with other Centers on projects and partnerships; serving as staff liaison to the members, participants, state and local affiliates on programs and events; coordinating and supporting national projects and events focusing on developing partnerships for member participation; providing detailed analysis, coordination, and reporting on event registration and budget. The incumbent will implement a comprehensive work plan including goals, objectives, benchmarks and milestones, track the participants, and evaluate and document the system. The incumbent will communicate regularly and collaborate closely with Teacher Quality, Community Schools, and the ESP Quality departments’ staff and management. To carry out responsibilities, the incumbent uses a personal computer, associated software, and other office technology.
This position is based in DC, with NEA's headquarters serving as the central workplace. Individuals hired for certain positions may request approval for telework following the policies and guidelines of their assigned staff unit. Qualifications: Minimum Education Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree in Program Management, Education, Data Analytics, or discipline related to the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge or skills may be obtained. Minimum Qualifications: Four years of professional experience in research and/or, education and/or project/data management. Other Requirements: Samples of work products (e.g., presentation materials and/or educational program documentation) may be required at the time of the interview. Must be able to occasionally work extended hours on evenings and weekends. Occasional travel required.
Selection Criteria: Tier 1 (Essential): Demonstrated experience with the management of complex projects. Demonstrated experience in program evaluation, survey methods, and the development and maintenance of databases. Ability to work across technologies including Cvent and Smartsheet. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively toward organizational objectives. Skill in working independently and within a team environment. Effective verbal, organizational, written, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated effectiveness in working under stringent timeframes and changing priorities/conditions. Successful references. Tier 2 (Significant): Demonstrated conference, meeting, and event coordination and administrative experience in a public school/district(s). Knowledge of other organizations that impact the accomplishment of NEA’s goals. Knowledge and experience in effectively and persuasively communicating, orally and in writing, with potential partners to design partnerships that address strategic goals. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings and events. Ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous assignments. Positive attitude and openness toward continuous learning, self-improvement, and development. Tier 3 (Desirable): Knowledge of NEA’s Center for Professional Excellence and Student Learning activities and goals.
