Position Summary
As an Undersea Warfare Junior Engineer, you will provide engineering, analytical, logistics, and technical support to the Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) C4I Systems Division branches C286 and C287, and assist Sailors in setting up, operating, and maintaining surface Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) systems through on-site and remote methods. You will be involved in system testing, installation, troubleshooting, and evaluation.
Clearance Required
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Conduct specified engineering/technical evaluations and perform equipment functional checks.
Perform installation, troubleshooting, testing, analysis, operation, maintenance, diagnosis of connectivity faults, and equipment repair for installed US Navy ASW systems specified in requirements.
Provide onboard maintenance training to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, repair, maintenance, and logistics support of listed systems.
Support shipboard Undersea Warfare Systems tasks, including Pre-INSURV Assessment (PIA), Combat Systems, Command, Control, Communications and Computer Readiness Assessment (C5RA), Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA), Integrated Class Maintenance Plan (ICMP), Inspection and Survey (INSURV) programs and Tech Assist (T/A) events.
Assist Ship's Force and government technicians in analyzing and resolving malfunctions detected during equipment operational testing.
Analyze equipment review and inspection data to determine the fault source and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
Suggest equipment/system engineering changes to improve quality and reliability and facilitate installation, maintenance, and repair.
Report findings/discrepancies as required to the designated 286/287 Branch Supervisor via FTS, Maintenance Action Forms, written / electronic de-brief, and/or write a Technical
Assistance Visit Report (TAVR).
Required Education, Skills, And Experience
Bachelor's in Engineering degree from an accredited university.
Minimum of 2 years full-time hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and providing logistic support of sonar or equivalent systems and subsystems. Experience shall have been gained within the last 10 years.
Each Junior Engineer must possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:
Hull or Keel Mounted SONARS (SQS-53 B, C, and D systems and subsystems
AN/SQR-19 and MFTA Towed Array Systems, AN/SQQ-28 Sonobuoy Receiving Systems, and AN/SQQ-89 On-Board Training (OBT) systems and subsystems.
AN/WQC-2A underwater communications, AN/UQN-4/4A/10 Fathometers, AN/BQH-7A Bathythermographs, and AN/SLQ-25 Torpedo Defense Systems.
AN/WQM-9 or equivalent equipment

Physical Demands And Expectations
Ability to work in an industrial shipboard/shipyard environment, climb shipboard ladders and wear all required safety equipment. Able to lift (up to 50lb), carry, and transport heavy equipment and materials required for the job. Able to meet U.S. Navy shiprider requirements
Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the year to CONUS/OCONUS locations.
Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
