Stearns County is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our team in the delivery of services to children in need. This position provides an opportunity to use your excellent organizational and written skills to assure consistent timelines. As a Case Aide, you will provide direct support services to families and assist Social Workers within the area of child maltreatment/protection including correlating and synthesizing written data. Position Objective

To provide assistance in accessing, delivering, and monitoring client services. This position is responsible for assisting with determining eligibility of clients, the completion of applications and forms, explaining department services, and obtaining and verifying information.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist social workers in maintaining client record.
  • Obtains information, reports, and documents related to child maltreatment from law enforcement and medical providers regarding clients for various uses.
  • Assists professional staff in researching and creating court related documents and referrals.
  • Assists with coordinating and scheduling meetings for clients.
  • Transports clients, including children, to and from sites where services are delivered in a safe and timely manner.
  • Instructs and provides hands-on assistance in the installation and proper use of child safety restraints.
  • Observes and monitors clients in a variety of situations including supervised visitation; provides documentation of factual client observations.
  • Interviews clients, family members, and community resources to coordinate and establish services to assist with case related tasks
  • Attends work regularly and in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • One year of post-secondary education in a human services field and two years of progressively related experience in a human services field OR four years of progressively related experience in a human services field
  • Valid Minnesota Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Reliable means of transportation and be able to travel to multiple locations around Stearns County

  • Knowledge of child protection case management and the child maltreatment intake process.
  • Knowledge of department programs and operations.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of laws and ethics pertaining to data privacy.
  • Ability to prepare and present legal document for review.

  • Ability to work independently and follow directions and guidelines.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The primary responsibilities for this position will be performed approximately 100% of the time indoors. May require moderate travel to off-site locations and minimal attendance at evening meetings. Will have infrequent exposure to health hazards and accidents; requires a low level of physical effort. All employees are required to reside within the state of Minnesota.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Human Services Supervisor.

Hours of Work, Testing and Interview Dates

Hours of Work

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include hours outside of normal work hours on occasion. Potential for a hybrid work environment and flexible work hours.
