TITLE: PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER

STATUS: FTE, Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Production

ORIGINAL DATE: 04/2025

SALARY RANGE: $51,000 - $57,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits package

Position Summary

The Production Stage Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all aspects of stage management related to rehearsals, performances, and production logistics. This individual works closely with artistic staff, choreographers, dancers, designers, and technical teams to support and uphold Atlanta Ballet’s artistic vision and performance standards. The ideal candidate is experienced in managing large-scale productions, reads music fluently, and has a strong background in working with professional dancers and union crews.

Primary Responsibilities

Planning & Pre-Production

  • Coordinate all stage management needs for company productions, tours, and special events
  • Liaise with artistic, production, and technical teams to prepare studios and performance venues
  • Develop and maintain all essential production documentation (e.g., cue books, schedules, reports)
  • Facilitate communication between chorographers, designers, and production departments
  • Manage rehearsal logistics, including seating arrangements, props, scenic elements, and media playback
  • Support production rentals and oversee inventory and road box preparations
  • Oversee archival recordings schedule and distribution of rehearsals and performances
  • Ensure safety protocols, provide basic first aid and create and manage all Workers Comp files

Production & Performance

  • Lead all technical rehearsals and performances, calling cues for all departments
  • Supervise backstage operations, ensuring a safe and organized environment for dancers and crew
  • Coordinate load-ins, load-outs, and venues transitions in collaboration with production staff
  • Maintain clear and timely communication through rehearsal and performance reports
  • Ensure accurate archival documentation and proper post-show wrap-up procedures

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3-5 years professional stage management experience (dance or ballet experience strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Stage Management, Theatre, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in reading music and calling cues from a score (candidates will be tested in person)
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication stills
  • Experience working in union environments (AGMA/IATSE)
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QLab, and media software)
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends and travel as needed
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Salary range is $51,000-57,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
