Overview

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

Under general supervision, o perates and has responsibility for one of a wide variety of special heavy motor equipment requiring a Commercial Driver's License & a Hoisting License and/or requiring unusual skill.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties/Functions (in order of importance):

  • May be responsible for the maintenance and care of a small number of pieces of equipment.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, security, and operation of assigned specialty vehicles.
  • Loads and unloads trucks; picks up and hauls material.
  • Completes required forms and reports.
  • Responds to and handles Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) cases.
  • May use mobile technology to communicate with supervisors and inspectors regarding Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) cases.
  • Supports other Public Works Divisions as requested.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required to work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (Licenses/Certifications):

  • Must possess any and all licenses required by the Mass Dept. of Public Safety to operate any special heavy motor equipment, including a valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a Hoising License.
  • Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and be able to focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Applicants must be available to work any assigned shift in any assigned location.

Boston Residency Required

INDIVIDUALS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION MUST COMPLETE THE CIVIL SERVICE LABOR SERVICE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE POSITION AT http://www.mass.gov/hrd/macs.
