Job Summary
The DI Scheduling Specialist is responsible for scheduling all Radiologic exams offered within Mason Health. This includes gathering necessary demographic information in the EMR to facilitate patient registration and billing integrity. DI Scheduling Specialists provide a calm and welcoming workplace while maintaining a professional environment for patients.
Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates with provider offices and clinics to ensure correct exams are ordered following DI protocols and assists with STAT exam completion from internal and external providers.
- Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains necessary authorizations. Assures authorizations are accurate, current, and retrieved at time of scheduling.
- Schedules diagnostic exams/procedures for the department including but not limited to: CT, Dexa, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Echocardiography, and Fluoroscopy.
- Submits requests for interpreter services to correspond with scheduled exams.
- Checks patients in for their scheduled exams/walk-in x-rays.
- Assists the Radiologist with contacting providers regarding urgent results.
- Answers incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Performs administrative tasks including but not limited to faxing, filing, image requests, supply ordering, and all other assigned duties necessary.
- Creates CDs of patient exams and helps with PACS workflows.
- Assists with patient care activities as needed.
- Maintains a calm and welcoming environment for patients at all times.
- Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes.
- Participates in organizational duties and process improvement for department when necessary.

Required Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of clerical/medical office experience required.
- One (1) year of Radiology/Scheduling experience required.
- Experience using Cerner and/or PACS strongly preferred.
