This position is responsible for performing a broad range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties to ensure the safe, functional, and efficient operation of state facilities. Work involves plumbing, electrical, carpentry, groundskeeping, and general building maintenance, as well as supporting office relocations and equipment setups. The role ensures timely repairs, compliance with safety standards, and support for staff needs across various departments.
Duties Include
- Conduct skilled maintenance and repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related systems to maintain facility operations and safety.
- Perform carpentry and structural repair tasks, including alterations to doors, windows, walls, and furniture construction or installation.
- Support groundskeeping and seasonal maintenance, such as mowing, snow removal, and general upkeep of exterior areas.
- Assist with office furniture setup, relocation, and equipment moves to ensure efficient and functional workspaces.
- Maintain accurate work records and comply with safety protocols, completing all required documentation and mandated training.
This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of
5 on the
OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm. This position is located within our
Rhodes State Office Tower at
30 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at
Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment); in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry only, applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190); in accordance with section 124.11 (B) (2) of revised code, Director Of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
