The Stationary Engineer will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) and be multi-skilled in others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments.

Essential Functions:

  • Execute a wide variety of maintenance and repair work in relation to the installation, maintenance, and repairs of boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, and building equipment.
  • Perform repairs to the Plumbing, Structural, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems.
  • Maintenance of the equipment will include cleaning, inspecting, calibrating and changing parts to maintain the HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels Quality Control.
  • Perform a wide variety of complex operating procedures to ensure the proper operation of the steam boilers, lab utilities, emergency generator operation, the propane vaporizer and others.
  • Maintain all engineering/electrical spaces in a clean and neat manner at all times.
  • Conducts scheduled tours of the boiler plant, chiller plant and lab utility equipment to include cooling towers, emergency generator rooms; main switchgear rooms, air handling machine rooms as well as steam stations and condensate return systems.
  • Review executed work orders, logs, forms, and related documentation on a daily basis to help ensure they are complete, current, and reflect the tasks as performed, and are appropriately filed in the CMMS, or other required system.
  • Any and all other tasks assigned
  • Experience with Process equipment, such as Autoclaves, various Washers and other PLC controlled equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with Thermal Fluid Heaters is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • High-school degree, GED, or equivalent
  • Strong communication & computer skills
  • Must have general knowledge of industry maintenance and repair practices
  • Must successfully have passed the Local 39 apprentice exam, or met the criteria as explained by the apprenticeship standards for IUOE Local 39
