The Senior Event Manager will manage the event planning and execution of, but not limited to, citywide events and will assist the Director of Event Services with oversight of the Event Managers.
The successful candidate will oversee the Event Managers from planning, execution, and reconciliation of all events. Assist the Director of Event Services to develop and manage department SOPs, Guidelines, and implementation, along with training of the Event Managers.
The candidate will also be required to quickly develop knowledge of the MBCC Event Services, venue, and building relationships service contractors and partners needed to successfully execute an event. In addition, the Senior Event Manager will work closely with the Directors of all internal departments, partners and City of Miami Beach entities.
This role will pay a salary of $70,000 to $80,000.

- Responsible for the coordination of Priority 1 (P1), Priority 2 (P2) event status and related needs which encompasses city, in-house, and social/banquet events.
- Review licensee agreement and identify key contract provisions.
- Acts as the central point of contact during all phases of event management process for clients and
- service contractors for the MBCC and will be tasked with acquiring, disseminating and distributing event and venue related information.
- Cultivate and develop relationships with department heads, City of Miami Beach, customers, clients, vendors, and other service providers.
- Assists Director of Event Services with hiring, training, and overseeing the Event Managers.
- Assists Director of Event Services with managing and overseeing protocols and SOPs and monitors their compliance.
- Be knowledgeable and trains Event Services team in safety/emergency procedures and event floor plan review.
- Manages all day-to-day work assignments for event managers.
- Train and oversee event estimate process for services and equipment. Ensure the event managers are distributing and communicating event estimates.
- Participate in industry organizations to enhance educational knowledge and relationships.
- Compile and input event data into venue event management program (Momentus) to assemble event resumes for distribution to the MBCC team members to efficiently execute client requirements.
- Ensure that all clients and contractors are familiar with building policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and that they are properly and appropriately enforced for their contractors.
- Delivery of high quality customer service.
- Generate event estimates and ensure that billable services and equipment are invoice accordingly for event settlement with Finance.
- Coordinate pre/post inspection with service partners/contractors.
- Closely monitor move-in, show, move-out to ensure cleanliness, proper setup and life safety requirements are followed.
- Provides on-site supervision to ensure show management support for changes and/or unexpected needs are accommodated.
- Collaborate with Technical Operations Manager to ensure IATSE labor are schedule and estimate is provided to client and/or AV company and Finance Dept.
- Collaborate with MBCC departments for special event requests.
- Ensure event checklist deadlines are followed.
- Generate event related reports for contracted dates.
- Prepare post event settlement in coordination with the finance department guidelines and deadlines.
- Work independently as needed on special projects and assignments.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Director of Event Services, this position supervises the Event Managers in the Event Services Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Spectra’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university in Event Management, Hospitality, or related industry.
- Minimum five plus of event management experience or related public relations, marketing, etc.
- Working knowledge of the principles of facility management, services and equipment for a similar facility.
- At least two years of supervisory experience in an events related capacity desired.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills required.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Bilingual- English/Spanish preferred
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS SharePoint and MS Outlook)
- Knowledge of Momentus Technologies (formerly known as Ungerboeck), AutoCAD, Vector Works and/or a related event management and design software programs.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Certified Meeting Professional Certification (CMP) required.

WORK SCHEDULE
The work schedule of this position typically involves a 5-day work week Monday through Friday; however, this will fluctuate based upon the needs of the community, a project and/or events. All employees in this position are expected to work in person at the Miami Beach Convention Center. However, exceptions or modifications to this requirement may be considered and approved by senior leadership. Must have the ability to remain available 7 days per week, work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Some travel as needed.
