Job Summary
Under supervision of the Custodial Assistant Superintendent, the incumbent will be perform cleaning duties for clinical setting including patient rooms, public areas and offices. This position will require to load and unload trash receptacles, collects and transports recyclable materials. Fills soap and towel dispensers, reports on building equipment and supply needs, ensures the security of assigned spaces, performs specialized cleaning in laboratory and medical spaces, and moves, sets up, and takes down furniture and appliances as required.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $25.62 - $34.53 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The UCSF Facilities Services Department (FS) is committed to creating an exceptional campus physical environment to support the research, teaching, health care and community service mission of the University. FS employs over 460 professional staff and acts as steward for over $100 million in operating funds to achieve its goals in operating and maintaining the UCSF campus environment. FS is organized into 7 operating units: (1) West Campus/Parnassus Operations, (2) East Campus/Mission Bay Operations, (3) Engineering & Utilities, (4) Facilities Renewal & Project Delivery, (5) Business Operations Support Center, (6) Custodial Services, and (7) Office of the AVC, including Administration & Communications.

Required Qualifications
- Up to one year of satisfactory work experience in hospitals, hotels and industrial janitorial cleaning. Successful completion of basic custodial training desired but not required.
- Ability to read, write and follow simple oral and written instructions in English. Ability to speak clearly in English.
- Willingness and ability to tolerate, occasionally, some unpleasant sight and odors, e.g. blood, chemical odors, remains of vomiting, etc.
- Good grooming and personal cleanliness and willingness to wear prescribed attire.
- Ability to meet physical demands involved. Stands and walks most of working day. A turn stoops, crouches, and reaches in performing cleaning tasks. Lift and carries up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment and perform duties using gloves if skin cannot tolerate cleaning chemicals or solutions.
- Willingness to work in any area or shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as requested.
- Ability to clean and maintain assigned areas in conformance with established procedures and standards.
- Good working knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods, material and proper use and care of floor machines e.g. Buffers, electric or battery operated automatic scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, shampooed/scrubbing machines, regular floor stripper/scrubber, floor drier, electric or gasoline air floor sweepers.
- Ability to apply appropriates cleaning methods and techniques in special areas following given guidelines.
- General knowledge of equipment needed in emergencies such as floods, disaster or fires.
- Ability to maintain harmonious working relationship with associates, supervisor and clinical staff members.
- Background check, UCSF Occupational Health clearance, and physical examination is required.

- Current valid California Drivers License
