About The Job
Your Role:
Your primary purpose as the Supply Specialist 2 is to oversee and coordinate commissary purchasing, storage, and fulfillment for two correctional facilities.
Commissary is a retail environment where you will be preparing, processing, packing and distributing orders, keeping careful receipts, and providing customer service.
As the Supply Specialist 2, you will participate in the receipt, storage, security, shipment, inventory, and recordkeeping for a wide variety of property, food, forms, and supplies. You will prepare, process, and maintain documents for the requisition, purchase, receipt, stocking inventory, issuance, and delivery of goods. You will receive order forms from Adults in Custody and accurately prepare their orders to be distributed at their respective facility. You will travel in the valley to facilitate distribution of the commissary at the facility.
You will work with contracted distributors to procure, store, and ship commissary throughout the state. You will need to have good communication skills, the ability to follow process and comply with policies, and work well with a diverse team.
You will direct adult in custody workers to follow rules, policies, procedures, and security guidelines; instruct and train on work techniques and procedures, and in the safe and efficient operations of tools and equipment. Strong personal boundaries are important in this role.
The best person for this job has experience in retail point of sale, order pulling, customer service, and enjoys leading a team.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of stocking, storeroom, or warehouse experience which included purchasing a variety of supplies, or materials; maintaining inventory records, and shopping for and receiving of materials.

Working Conditions
Work requires physical ability to perform heavy lifting for short duration on daily basis, to assist and/or observe the loading and off-loading of supply shipments during inclement weather conditions, to work in -20 degree storage unit. Operation of equipment unique to warehouse operations (fork lifts, reaches, pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.), and subjected to hazards associated in accomplishment of assigned duties at the warehouses including control and custody of adults in custody. Security regulations require skills and knowledge of daily custody and supervision of adults in custody. Must maintain a general knowledge of security procedures and guidelines. Travel throughout the valley and work inside a secure perimeter.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect
an additional 6.95%.

What to Expect:

Requirements For Employment
The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
