Duties
As a Cook, WG-7404-5, your typical work assignments may include the following:
- Follow sanitary food handling procedures.
- Cover, label and date food items according to established policies and procedures.
- Clean assigned work areas; walls, ceilings, floors, worktables, walk-in refrigerators, and storage rooms.
- Make a variety of desserts such as cobblers, brownies, cookies, and pastries.
- Use simple arithmetic, such as multiplying and dividing ingredients in a recipe when preparing food items for the correct serving amount.
- Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables.
- Weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for regular, special, and modified diets.
- Follow safety procedures when operating kitchen equipment.
- Track students' meal plan usage by counting number of purchased dinners.
- Prepare different types of food using varies methods such as braise, broil, simmer, bake, fry, steam, stew, and grill.
