Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR & Labor Relations Manager to lead the labor and HR functions at a large manufacturing facility. This individual will play a critical role in overseeing employee relations, negotiations, talent development, and compliance. The role is approximately 70% focused on Labor Relations and 30% on Human Resources for salaried employees.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic consulting and direction for the People element of the Business Plan.
  • Lead the development and administration of local labor agreements; formulate local negotiation strategies.
  • Administer performance management for salaried employees, including mid-year reviews, coaching, and feedback.
  • Address employee issues proactively and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies.
  • Plan and lead Talent Management, Succession Planning, and employee development initiatives.
  • Leverage data analytics to guide strategic decisions in labor relations, staffing, and talent management.
  • Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies and initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions in areas such as Ethics, Labor Relations, HR Policies, and Leadership.
  • Support recruiting efforts for both hourly and salaried roles; oversee hiring and disciplinary actions.
  • Lead engagement activities, including employee surveys and resulting action plans.
  • Collaborate with internal partners on compensation programs, performance reviews, and benefit administration.
  • Represent the company in legal matters as necessary.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with management, union representatives, and employees.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for Labor Relations, including grievance resolution and contract administration.

Team Structure & Work Environment

  • The plant operates 7 days a week and during Worker Shutdown days; coverage will be shared between this role and the direct report.
  • The facility includes two unions: UAW and IBEW. Experience with UAW is highly preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 4+ years of relevant HR/Labor Relations experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing plant setting.
  • 4+ years of experience in a people leadership or management role.
  • 4+ years of labor relations experience, including contract negotiations, grievance resolution, and administration in complex unionized environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Business-related field.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing site with 2,000+ employees.
  • Familiarity with Workday or other HRIS systems.
  • Proven experience in change management and strategic planning.
  • Strong data analytics skills; ability to use data to influence decisions and drive outcomes.
  • Experience in high-paced and dynamic work environments.
